About Us

Since 1988, Community Connections has driven lasting, positive change for youth and families—empowering leaders, inspiring role models, and fostering a better future.

Community Connections Mentoring, established in 2000, follows evidence-based practices from the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring. Youth are thoughtfully matched with adult volunteers who commit to 4 to 8 hours of monthly interaction. The program provides ongoing training, structured activities, and life skills classes to ensure safe, impactful relationships. These meaningful connections foster personal growth, boost academic and career potential, and strengthen families.

The Substance Abuse Prevention System (SAPS) coalition, with 20+ members, works to reduce substance abuse and improve life for Lincoln County families. SAPS celebrates several campaigns aimed at reducing underage drinking, marijuana use, and opioid and prescription drug abuse. Initiatives include monthly drug take-backs, free deactivation pouches and lock boxes, skill-building for parents and students, prevention trainings, and community-wide policy changes.

Tobacco Free Lincoln County (TFLC) collaborates to prevent youth tobacco use and reduce secondhand smoke exposure. TFLC provides tobacco-free resources to schools, supports smoke-free housing, and helps establish tobacco-free outdoor spaces.

In partnership with community leaders, Community Connections also works to reduce juvenile justice involvement. Our Community Planning Team develops long-term strategies to improve youth services and minimize justice system contact.
